M.I.L.K. share glorious video for debut track, ‘If We Want To’ / debut EP out in September
“straight up quality” – Indie Shuffle (Song Of The Day)
“Copenhagen-based outfit M.I.L.K. is here to inject a much-needed dose of sunshine into your day” – Hillydilly
Today sees Copenhagen based soul collective, M.I.L.K. reveal the visuals for their debut track, ‘If We Want To’.
The video is inspired by the process of clicking through old photos on your computer. It’s a video collage colour-coordinated in nuances of blue and revolves around themes of summer and sensuality. Emma Oak, the beautiful girl in the video, is a model, and has featured on the catwalks for some of the biggest fashion designers in the world; Chanel, Kenzo, Rodarte etc. The video was directed by Emil Wilk and was shot whilst travelling through Africa.
Led by singer Emil Wilk, M.I.L.K. could be called a solo endeavour, but it’s been shaped in the light of collaborations since it started last summer. Emil himself points out “has anyone ever done anything completely solo?”.
Amongst the collaborators you’ll find Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen from Reptile Youth, Søren Christensen, and Simon Torp Littauer who has also worked with MØ, First Hate, Kill J and Soleima.
The songwriting of M.I.L.K. harks back to the time of 70s soul pioneers such as Curtis Mayfield and Sly Stone, but most certainly hints at more modern electronic acts such as Jungle, Rhye or Blood Orange when it comes to production and overall expression.
An intriguing concoction of tropical production, swaying percussion, and sumptuous melodies, this is the start of something special, with a full EP planned for release Autumn-time.
