Ayrshire based band Mannequin Mannequin are set to release their new A/A single with Sun Turtle Records on May 19th 2018.
From humble beginnings the band was born out of frontman Martyn’s songwriting passion, and soon formed into a live band consisting of Martyn’s brother Gary, their cousin Stefano and life-long friend Paul.
The band draws influence from America, cred-iting alternative rock bands Pixies, The Breeders, Best Coast and Death Cab for Cutie as the inspiration for their new release.
The A/A featuring ‘Sunburn’ and ‘Chiaroscuro’ produced at Ayrshire College’s Studio G54 by David McAulay (King Creosote, Remember Remember) and mastered by Ed Woods (Tony Viscoti, Twin Atlantic, Roger Daltrey), takes you back to 90’s America with a dreamy sound described by Glasgow’s Podcart as “Pure cotton candy for the ears.” ‘Sunburn’ is a hazy, easy listening indie- pop anthem written about summers of yesterday, while ‘Chiaroscuro’ is a edgy, ‘in-your-face’ track showcasing the bands darker side while preserving the indie pop commercial appeal.
Mannequin Mannequin has had previous success with their single ‘Strawberries’ which was played on Vic Galloway’s BBC Introducing Show in Scotland. Always aiming to record better songs, the telecaster wielding band hope to continue this success with their new release.
This is the band’s first official release and they have enjoyed being surrounded by like minded musicians and executives, who have taken the tracks from a bedroom demo to a studio master.
Sun Turtle Records is an Ayrshire based college record label run by sound production students llooking to repeat the success of ‘big-time’ Ayrshire bands Biffy Clyro, Fatherson and Trashcan Sinatras by focusing their releases on emerging local artists.
