MAPS, aka composer and producer James Chapman, continues his series of remix EPs with the release of EP2. Colours. Remixed. Time. Loss.

The new EP, out today, includes a remix of ‘She Sang To Me’ by C Duncan, described by Chapman as an “entrancing and woozily psychedelic reworking”, and follows Chapman’s 2017 remix of the Scottish multi-instrumentalist’s track. The EP is available here: https://mute.ffm.to/crtl-ep2

EP2. Colours. Remixed. Time. Loss. also features A Certain Ratio’s reworking of ‘The Plans We Made’. Chapman explains, “I absolutely love A Certain Ratio, so it was a real honour to have them work on a remix for this EP. It was probably after watching ’24 Hour Party People’ many years ago, and realising how important they were to the Factory scene, that I started to delve into their catalogue. They are a legendary band with an unmistakable groove which connects directly to my soul.”Talking about the remix, he goes on, “The rework they produced is simply stunning. I loved the way they approached it in a creative sense as well – working on it in the studio together, as a band, and recording completely new instrumentation. The series, which launched last month with an EP featuring remixes from Stephen Morris, Russian Linesman and Polly Scattergood, reworks and reimagines tracks from Chapman’s latest album, Colours. Reflect. Time.

Loss. (2019, Mute). The acclaimed album, his most ambitious to date, saw the Northampton-based Mercury Music-nominated artist working with Echo Collective, the renowned Brussels ensemble, and 2019 saw him embark on a series of performances that included a sold-out show at the Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room.
