“Almost indecent brilliance” – Sunday Times
“Masochistic, romantic pop” – i-D
“A knack for world building… impressive” – Clash
“Intimate and introspective, Matilda Lyn has burst onto the scene with her debut single” – Wonderland
“restrained, but still sweeping and cinematic, and surprising details give it depth even in its simplest moments” – Pigeons and Planes
Accompanied by another gorgeous video filmed in Sweden and showcasing the pastoral environs that inspire Matilda – the broad sea, sunsets, rolling fields and lit up fairgrounds – ‘Dead Ends’ is another exceptionally crafted song, this time imbued with a sense of melancholy, as Matilda laments “I’m so sick of myself, comparing myself to everyone”. Speaking about the track, Matilda says, “Dead Ends is probably the song I’ve been dancing to the most while making. It has a very fun, playful production while it’s about feeling like you’re dragging a relationship down.” Once again, the Swedish songwriter and producer stakes her claim as a bold and intentional new artist to watch.
‘Dead Ends’ is written, performed and produced by Matilda Lyn, and released today on Giant, the new LA-based label helmed by Jeffrey Azoff, founder of Full Stop Management (Harry Styles, Lizzo, Anderson .Paak, James Blake).
