Matinee are an established four piece Italian rock n roll band in Italy; however last Summer they all bravely flew their sunny nests to pursue their London rock n roll dreams. “40 Years Old” ( 26th March 2012) produced by Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Carl Barat, Teenage Fanclub, Super Furry Animals) is their follow up single to debut “City Lifestyle” (Sept 24th 2011) .This new release is a melodic soaring dream like journey of a song and its new exclusive video is out now with the single now also available on free download as a thank-you for the continued UK support.
The surreal dream like video is taken from a child’s perspective of the world through their drawing analysis and therefore their ability to see things differently. The video was a creative collaboration created between Matinee and Portuguese video design duo Fabio Bondi ( www.fabiobondi.com) and Joao Monterio (http://cargocollective.com/joapmonteiro). The animation begins through an adults eye and explores the inner child in all of us and how we want to see things differently however we also have demanding life expectations as an adult working in the city of London. Fairytale creatures and unexpected worlds frame “the secret sides” of our imagination which keeps the inner child of us alive proving that imagination is just as real as the real world. So watch, enjoy and enter this Alice In Wonderland of a video….

The band is named after Scotland’s very own Franz Ferdinand’s hit song; “Matinee” and they are all friends after supporting them in Italy. The UK has embraced our Italian friends with support on their debut from NME TV, NME online, Q radio and Scotland’s Jim Gellaty is an official fan. Matinee were recently up for nomination for “Best International Act” on Amazing Radios Saturday Show “Zings” Awards and this month played the very credible Station Sessions ( Ed Sheeran, The Guillemots , Ellen & The Escapades) – so it seems the UK is their new found and happy home..
So on UK soil the band has played live at many key London venues including Death Disco (Creation Records; Alan McGee’s night) and the 100 Club. Their love of UK music shines through after support slots with Razorlight, Mystery Jets, The Futureheads, The Wombats, Pete and the Pirates and British Sea Power
Coming soon a follow up single featuring Belle & Sebastian and a debut album….
