Matinee – ‘White Lies’
The latest single ‘White Lies’ from Italian four piece indie band Matinee is due for release on the 5th of March and is a follow up to their debut single ‘City Lifestyle’ which gained much critical acclaim and airtime on local London radio stations. Originally from Italy they have relocated to the slightly less sunny city of London and seem to be thriving in the cooler climate. For the launch of the single they will be hosting a free party at The Shackwell Arms in Dalston and be playing alongside IamCharlii, Genna Marabese, as well as a DJ set by Chris Geddes which should make this a must go to night for anyone in the area.
This is an electro pop fused indie song with really great funky beats and riffs once you get past the slower and darker intro. The lyrics all deal with the dark obsessions of passion and lust and I really can see this becoming a firm favourite in Uni bars up and down the country following in the footsteps of bands like The Killers and Franz Ferdinand. Completed by a suitably dark and moody music video if this is just a taste of things to come I can’t wait for their debut album due out later in the year. 7.9/10
