Membranes Working On New Dark Matte Album

Membranes Working On New Dark Matte Album

The band were asked to reform by My Bloody Valentine and then Shellac to play the ATP festival.

The gigs went so well and so many great festival offers came in that they have decided to continue.

The band are working on an album now for release this year. A diverse and extreme work that will go from noise and discord to moments of beauty with drones and orchestras used in new ways the album called Dark Matter will pick up on the band’s successful Universe Explained gigs where they invented Higgs Boson scientists to do in conversations with band singer John Robb, show films and then play a set at the end.

The next Universe Explained gig will be at the South Bank in London in the autumn.

The Membranes formed out of punk and DIY culture and then went on their own path.

The band reformed a couple of years ago to play music on their own terms.

They are still inspired by punk rock but believe music has no boundaries.

The new music weaves noise, drones, found percussion, feedback, discord, melody, free jazz, dub, dark- dub, free punk, heavy rhythms, classical music, orchestras, percussion, near silence, death to trad rock noise and freedom into a unique whole of beauty and noise and enjoys all the contrasts.

The Membranes were an influential 80’s UK post punk band who recently reformed for the ATP festivals in the UK at the request of firstly My Bloody Valentine and then Shellac.

The gigs went to so well that the band are working on an album built around the Universe Explained gig they did last year where we got Higgs Boson scientists to explain the universe before the Membranes played a set to finish which was a sellout show- many venues and festivals are interested in this as well.

There is also a dark cartoon being being made about the Membranes as a feature film.

The band are looking to play festivals and interesting gigs.

The are working on a new album for release this year.
