Metronomy share new single 'Wedding Bells', album out next week

As the September 13th release of ‘Metronomy Forever’ approaches, Joe Mount’s genre-defying collective drop a final tantalising taster in the shape of the new single ‘Wedding Bells’. It adds to a diverse collection of recent tracks which show the depth and variety of what is Metronomy’s most ambitious album to date. That’s been rewarded with key radio support across the board including A-list support from BBC 6 Music and plays from Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Jack Saunders, Clara Amfo and Phil Taggart.

Opening with a tight percussive groove, ‘Wedding Bells’ unfolds with a chugging guitar riff before some gloriously expansive ‘80s-tinged synths echo throughout the main hook. Yet the title masks the song’s melancholy mood. “I hear wedding bells,” sings Mount, before sorrowfully adding, “But they’re not for me.”Like with much of ‘Metronomy Forever’, ‘Wedding Bells’ takes an unorthodox look at the varying emotions that come with love, romance and sex – an approach that reflects Mount’s work on Robyn’s game-changing album ‘Honey’.

‘Metronomy Forever’ is now available to pre-order from https://becausemusic.lnk.to/Metronomy_Forever, with ‘Wedding Bells’, ‘Walking In The Dark’, ‘Salted Caramel Ice Cream’ and ‘Lately’ all provided as instant downloads.

Metronomy will launch the new album with four in-store performances and signing sessions at Rough Trade. They’ll play Rough Trade East at 1pm and 7pm on September 13th before heading to play the Bristol store on September 14th at 2pm and 7pm. They’ll also play a special album launch show in association with Resident at Brighton’s Concorde 2 on September 16th. They’ll take to the stage at 9.30pm, and ticket / album bundles are available here.

Having completed their summer festival touring this weekend with a glorious headline and closing set at End of The Road, Metronomy will embark upon their first headline tour in support of the new album in October.
