OVER is Model Man’s new EP, built from fragments that were never meant to become finished songs. The project takes shape from dictaphone-recorded piano sketches, loose ideas, and melodic offcuts, treated not as demos to be perfected, but as raw material to be reshaped.
Model Man has always worked somewhere between emotional openness and physical drive. One of those rare producers who makes electronic music feel deeply human, his sound sits between the intimacy of a late-night confession and the release of a closing track on a dancefloor. At the centre is the piano, his first instrument, taught by his mother, a classical piano teacher, and still the foundation of everything he writes.
Growing up in Chelmsford, Essex, he absorbed two opposing worlds at once: the discipline of classical music and the raw energy of UK garage and rave culture. That collision, Debussy and house music, structure and freedom, continues to define his work. Organic piano lines surface inside breakbeats, modular textures and blurred vocal fragments.
The origins of OVER were unexpected. After a period of forced inactivity caused by injury, Model Man found himself revisiting an old laptop filled with dictaphone recordings, rough piano sketches, distorted ideas, unfinished moments that were never meant to become songs. With little else to work from, he began cutting them apart, looping them, and rebuilding new tracks from their fragments. Instead of polishing everything into place, the imperfections were left intact, giving the music a sense of movement that feels human, unstable and alive.
Across the EP, rhythm continues even when momentum feels paused. The tracks rarely aim for big moments, instead evolving slowly through repetition, texture and atmosphere. Rooted in both classical training and UK rave culture, OVER continues Model Man’s interest in electronic music as a form of emotional communication, dance music that doesn’t hide its feeling, and introspective music that still carries weight on a system.
Model Man has earned early support from tastemakers including Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Danny Howard, DJ Seinfeld, Duke Dumont, Prospa, Alan Fitzpatrick and Mall Grab. His single Heaven secured front-cover placement on Spotify’s Altar playlist, alongside BBC Radio 1 Record of the Week and continued radio support. Live, he remains tactile and unguarded, looping, sampling, and playing piano in real time. He looks for imperfection rather than polish, which gives his performances their tension: an artist raised on expectation, still chasing spontaneity.
Model Man’s work continues to redefine the emotional edge of dance music. In a landscape full of noise, he creates space. OVER is proof that even when life stops you in your tracks, the music can still move.
