MULL HISTORICAL SOCIETY TWO SPECIAL FAN REQUEST SHOWS CONFIRMED
Having started the year with the glowing reception that greeted the release of the ‘City Awakenings’ album, Mull Historical Society – singer-songwriter Colin MacIntyre – will conclude 2012 by playing two special shows.
The gigs – at Glasgow’s King Tuts (December 8th) and London’s Barfly (December 11th) – will see Mull Historical Society return to the first venues that they performed at in each city to play sets based entirely on what fans request. Fans can suggest songs from all four MHS albums (completed by ‘Loss’, ‘Us’ and ‘This Is Hope’) via Facebook or Twitter.
Tickets go on sale from Friday, October 12th at an advance price of £14 for London (www.barfly.co.uk / 0844 847 2424) and £12.50 for Glasgow (www.kingtuts.co.uk / 0141 221 5279). This year’s Mull Historical Society festive single ‘Christmas Is Here Again’ will be available as a free download with each ticket purchase and will receive a full release in December on Xtra Mile Recordings.
Mull Historical Society have played a select number of dates this year, including both sites of the V Festival, T in The Park and a Folk Sessions show at the Eden Project on a bill that was headlined by Frank Turner.
Produced by the Grammy-winning Dom Morley (Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Grinderman), ‘City Awakenings’ features ten MacIntyre compositions which offer a tribute to Glasgow, London and New York; the three cities which have most influenced the musician as an islander abroad. MacIntyre also co-produced the album closer ‘Thameslink (London’s Burning)’, which he first performed on acoustic guitar at his father’s funeral (his father’s death inspired Mull’s 2001 debut album ‘Loss’).
