Developmental Dyslexia is part of a field most generally referred to as Developmental Disorder. These disorders will often give rise to issues such as difficulty to concentrate, unfocused attention, possibly some agitation or anxiety.’
10LEC6 (pronounced with the numbers in French ‘Dix-Lec-Seese’ – sounding like Dyslexics in English) is a shape-shifting project formed around street-artist Simon and DJ-producer Jess from French DJ duo Jess & Crabbe.

Today, they reveal the vividly colourful animated video for single ‘Bone Bame’, shot by French graffiti artist Antwon Horfee, whose graphical work is informed by European abstract artists, the world of tattooing and vintage cartoons.

The project is based on the neurotic compulsion to play music loud and hard. 10LEC6 have earned a reputation for doing just that, as a blistering live act. Influenced by the danceable side of post-punk (Bad Brains, ESG, The Slits) but also by disco, house and other electro-deviant sounds. The 10LEC6 documentary, also out today, digs into the backgrounds of the artists and their thrilling, chaotic sound.
New singer Nicole has gospel singer roots and can also rap in Bulu (a Bantou dialect spoken in the South of Cameroon). Hence their own term ‘bulu punk’. The video for ‘Quakerz’ is a swirling performance video, capturing some of the live vibe of the band, for a jam that wouldn’t sound out of place in a thunderous Larry Levan DJ set. The video is shot inside Paris’ picturesque Éléphant Paname. Swirling cinematography imparts a giant disco ball effect on the five-piece band below, playing bongos, bass guitars and drums.
The album is to come out on Ed Banger, a label that’s always looking for different ways to dance.  Also released with this video will be a new remix by Detroit based producer Waajeed. He has reworked “Bone Bame,” the title track off 10LEC6’s forthcoming album, with a four on the floor beat and a new club oriented energy. A veteran to the hi-hop and house scene, Waajeed formed hip-hop and R&B group Platinum Pied Pipers and recently launched his own record label Dirt Tech Reck.
As producer Jess Crabbe says in the documentary, their sound is like ‘when you haven’t been shopping for ten days and you’re left with a potato, an egg, canned green beans and a yoghurt.’ Extending the Gallic cooking metaphor, he remarks ‘you find a way to make a  yoghurt sauce with a leftover piece of garlic, toss in the cold green beans, top it off with the egg and come up with something super delicious. That’s what 10LEC6 is to me’. And we have to agree.
