Q: “How would you describe New Candys’ sound?” A: “Dark rock’n’roll with high psychedelic tendencies.”

Hailing from Venice, Italy; on 6 April 2015 psychedelic rock‘n’roll band New Candys are to release their new album, ‘New Candys As Medicine’. Recorded in studios between Brescia and Treviso, the album was mixed by Loop’s original drummer/producer John Wills, and be released on Minneapolis based label Picture In My Ear on vinyl, cd and digital formats. A deluxe vinyl edition will also be released on Fuzz Club.

The cover-art for ‘New Candy As Medicine’ was self-made by the band, and attempts to translate the album’s layers of sonic melodies into images with a mixture of different paper and surfaces glued together – the final result being a coordinated chaos – whilst the leitmotif for the album’s imaginary comes from Maya Deren’s surrealistic films together with the Patent Medicines’ period, when drugs compounds were sold pretending to be medications with exclusive ingredients Listen to the album here

The album will be preceded by the release of a single, ‘Dark Love’, on 19 January, previously released also on a secret travelling Picture In My Ear compilation that appeared at CBGB Fest in NYC, Desert Stars Festival in California and many others, besides in Australia during The Dandy Warhols tour. Lifted from the album, the single will be an AA sided split single with the band Kill Your Boyfriend and, featuring the exclusive track ‘Surf 2’, will be available on Shyrec.
