Cartaé’s new single ‘Long Time’ is more proof of the health of RnB from the UK’s shores, with a beat that weaves in influences from 90s RnB, 80s pop, UK Garage and indie rock.
Over Cartaé’s classic vocal top lines she coolly calls out an ex-lover. The video, created by Taz Tron Delix, is a surreal riot of flowers, palm trees, flamingos and a gigantic Cartaé towering amongst the mountains of a valley she is also driving through. It features cameos from the rest of the Mini Kingz collective Oscar #worldpeace and Ragz Originale. Taz has previously made the video for Ragz tune ‘En Route’. Cartaé created all the clothing looks herself for the video.
“The video is basically what goes on inside my mind. I see everything in an abstract way” says Cartaé “So this is my way of dealing with heartache and trying to move on whilst juggling the insecurities that come with chasing love.”
Cartaé hails from Wembley in North West London. An early love of music saw her start as a rapper before she realised her talents lay in writing songs instead. Influenced by groups like Little Dragon and Blood Orange she started writing songs. She mainly works with her friend Ragz Originale. Alongside Oscar#worldpeace they form the affiliated crew/ label Mini Kingz.
Ragz Originale is shaping up to be one the UK’s finest producers having had hit records with “Shutdown” as well as “Text Me Back” and “Konnichiwa” on Skepta’s Mercury Prize winning fourth LP “Konnichiwa”. He’s also produced for CASISDEAD “What’s My Name” as well as Oscar#worldpeace ‘That’s Alright’.
‘All I Have’ is a magnetic introduction to a new UK talent.
