Small Bear Records are delighted to announce the release of our first Dandelion Radio Session EP. From Postcode guitarist Mikie Daugherty’s solo instrumental project Nanaki, the session was recorded for Mark Whitby’s Dandelion Radio show in June and can be downloaded on a name-your-price basis here – https://nanaki.bandcamp.com/album/dandelion-radio-session.
Dandelion Radio is an internet radio station inspired by John Peel and holds the honour of continuing the annual Festive 50 started by Peel. The station has been a great supporter of Small Bear Records over the years and can be relied upon to provide a great and eclectic mix of music – we recommend listening to discover new artists from around the world at http://dandelionradio.com/.
The Nanaki session sees Mikie, guitarist of manx alt-rockers Postcode, revisiting material from the early days of the band, in fact it is the setlist from their first gigs. Mainly consisting of tracks originally found on the now unavailable debut album ‘Fashion Is The Enemy Of All Art’, the music found here often exhibits less of a post-rock sound, being closer in some ways to post-punk. As well as being an opportunity to present improved versions of older material and to introduce it to a new audience, the session was intended to provide something of an insight into the Nanaki live experience of days-gone-by. Although it may prove difficult to listen to the EP in a small, smoky venue, to best experience this record it is recommended that it is played at high volume.
A blog by Mikie, talking in more detail about the session can be read here – http://zebracore.tumblr.com/post/124494781874/nanaki-the-dandelion-radio-session-ep
I hope that you enjoy the EP and would be most grateful for any coverage that you would be willing to give it.
