Following on from 2019 debut EP “Wings”, German rising star Amilli is already gearing up to release a sophomore project.”Green Eyes”, the third single off the upcoming EP, is a love song with a twist.Written “from a really independent and confident perspective rather than the typical selfless, sometimes submissive love song” Amilli’s sweet-like-honey vocals open with:
“ever since I came around, the green in your eyes turned richer, many of the girls in town seem jealous of the picture”
Despite only recently still being a teen, her songwriting speaks to a higher level of maturity, while remaining intensely relatable.
“For this video we wanted to portray Amilli’s natural beauty and charisma. The laidback vibe and percussion in the song gave us a Mediterranean feel immediately so we chose to shoot it on the Balearic Islands. The sultry atmosphere and delivery of the vocals is underlined by the slow and steady movement of the camera. The mermaid fin was a funny side idea and became more or less the guideline for the video.”
Listed as one of Pigeons and Planes’ Artists To Look Out For in 2019 (alongside names such as Summer Walker and Omar Apollo), the 20-year old artist from a small mining town in Germany has made the blogosphere’s ears prick up with her soulful voice, devil-may-care style and unpretentious pop sensibility since 2018 breakout single “Rarri“, and in recent releases such as “I’m Not Tryna Be Your Girl“.

The Story So Far
Hailing from Bochum, a small, grey German city more commonly associated with soccer, closed coal mines and heavy industry, 20-year-old Amilli is putting her refreshingly mature brand of RnB/pop on the map.
Growing up in a musical household, Amilli learned to play the piano at the tender age of seven. If you ask Amilli today, she bluntly says that she has never wasted a thought on taking music more seriously or even consider it a career option.
Amilli first made ears prick up with “Rarri“. The song and the video spread like wildfire in the national and international blogosphere. After releasing a few more singles throughout 2018 Amilli was invited to the biggest German music award show “1Live Krone” where she was awarded the “1Live” newcomer award, performing in front of millions of people on live radio and television.
Tours with two of Germany’s biggest bands Annenmaykantereit and Giant Rooks followed, and increasing festival bookings heralded an exciting first summer for the young artist.
In between touring and festivals, debut project “Wings” was released. The EP is an attempt at processing this new life, which Amilli says she “slipped into by accident”. To be a musician means to reveal oneself to the world, to face her fear every night by going on stage. “I’ve realised how much I benefit from leaving my comfort zone a little more each day”.
