Cantaloupe Island (Tribute to Herbie Hancock)

New tribute from our project called “Point Of View” (or P.O.V. if you’re a perv). Tribute to all geniuses that inspired us, reworked and shared as if all of these were with us in the studio.

This one, free download as always, is a dedication to Herbie Hancock :

Born in 1940, Herbert Jeffrey “Herbie” Hancock is an American pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, composer, monster and, of course, a Genius.

He starts his career with jazz legend Donald Byrd, before joined the Miles Davis Quintet.

“Cantaloupe Island” is a jazz standard. Released in 1964 for his album Empyrean Isles on Blue Note rec.

He is one of the first jazz musicians to embrace synthesizers and funk music. Don’t miss his actual tour with Chick Corea if you’re lucky to see them.
