New This Week: Unheard Graham Coxon, new Hard-Fi, spiritual jazz Gary Bartz, Riot Grrrl Molly Tie, Simon Reynolds on shoegaze

Feeling nostalgic in this week’s edit, as Graham Coxon looks back. Blurring the lines between lo-fi and his classic mod sound, with a reissue of his debut solo album The Sky is Too High with original artwork and never before released 2011 solo studio album Castle Park now available.

Hard-Fi ​have new material for the first time in fifteen years, recorded at their taxi-rank-turned-recording-studio with no less sharp-eyed social commentary that so expertly powered their debut.

Jazz has been in the air since spring and with Miles Davis‘ recent centenary, it is still very much floating through the ether. We recommend Where Rivers Meet, a deeply intuitive album from the defining figure of the spiritual jazz movement, Gary Bartz, alongside some of the most exciting prospects in the London jazz scene.

Lest we forget something to get stuck into between the pages, Rebel Grrrls is out showcasing the real story of women and punk, spanning every era; from the British explosion, American hardcore, riot grrrl, po, punk, emo and ska.
