Desert Planes: debut single + NEW video

Dealing in slightly impassioned, eloquent, chiming-indie rock, London 2-piece Desert Planes will release their debut single ‘Wake In Fright’ via Killing Moon Records on July 1st.  And to go with it they’ve just released the below video:

Desert Planes ‘Wake In Fright’

Clash Magazine ”Feral indie rock thrills’
The Mad Mackerel “slightly introverted, eloquent, chiming-indie rock”
The Most Radicalist “create a sound on their new single ‘Wake In Fright’ that is so much bigger than their physical size. Anthemic rather than shambling, theirs is a more euphoric and considered approach than the usual three chords anarchically chucked together”

In an indie-rock scene where stream counts are held in greater esteem than songwriting ability when it comes to music industry buzz, London two-piece Desert Planes may well be the exception to the rule that the UK has been waiting for.

Singer Tom Farrer and drummer Ben Niblett are old friends who in their adolescence, often collaborated and gigged in local pubs willing to over look their age. Following this formative step into their personal musical development and performing in other professional bands individually, it would only be a few years later that the two pick up where they left off.

The unique chemistry between the two both in terms of songwriting prowess and their prolific live performance was instantly realised when they launched a self-produced demo version of Wake In Fright into the online world in mid-2015, followed by several live shows in London that saw them instantly snapped up by Global Publishing (Ellie Goulding, Jungle, The Vaccines).

Tom Farrer says of the track “Wake In Fright most definitely is a favourite of ours and was one of the first of a bunch of songs we wrote after forming Desert Planes”

The band have since re-recorded Wake In Fright, having recently worked out of the renowned Parr Street Studios with producer Richard Turvey (Blossoms, The Coral, Clean Cut Kid), and have spent the last few months honing their live craft with shows around the UK, including supports with the likes of Spector and Kyko.

Wake In Fright is released via Killing Moon on 1st July 2016.

Live Dates:
3rd June: Tooting Tram & Social, London (free entry)
