“Newspoke’s Faces is such a great record, that it’s a shame the duo is anonymous. It’s so intensely personal that you want to meet the people who made it.”
– Atwood Magazine
This track covers those feelings of overindulgence, hindsight and regret – covered in full on their fourth upcoming record, Faces, out this month.”
– All Things Go
“Newspoke offers a heart-wrenching ode to greener pastures complete with a nostalgia-drenched video that tugs on the heartstrings.”

– The 405
“Newspoke is a band shrouded in mystery; there are no names or faces, there is only the music and visual artistry that the collective decides that they’re willing to share with the world.

– Substream Magazine

Today, nonymous New York City-based indie duo Newspoke shares Faces, their debut album, available on all digital streaming platforms. Atwood Magazine premieres the LP as well as the video for “Best.” Atwood Magazine wrote of the record, “Their vocalist’s punky yelp narrates soulful Americana. It’s strange to not have the name of a songwriter to attribute these to, because every song sounds intensely personal. All we have to attribute the music and lyrics to are M and R. Whether it’s the impassioned, harmonica-driving ‘Judas Tree’ or the radio-rock of ‘Heather,’ these songs are like amping up the most popular folk songs of the past decade with a touch of Tom Waits.”

Newspoke explores the contrast of lightness and darkness in Faces. The record, born out of failed relationships, life-threatening illness, and new beginnings, balances a line between darkness and comedy. Standout tracks on the record include, “Judas Tree,” “Cheers,” and “Best.”
Faces was mixed and mastered by Larry Crane (Elliott Smith, Sleater-Kinney, The Decemberists) and mastered by Adam Gonsalves in Portland, OR.
