A Nighthawk Announce ‘Ice in the Belly, Fire in the Mind’ (Dead Dandelion Collective, 26th February)

“…what really shines is the way this trio make drama out of not very much at all. The band talks of fire and blood in their music, and on the evidence of this track it’s easy to see why.” The Line of Best Fit

“dreamy, sumptuously evocative” Clash Magazine

“Loaded with a nervous, paranoid intensity” Nothing But Hope & Passion

“A mesmerising and hypnotic alternative pop tune with a little bit of mystery.” JaJaJa

“‘Coming For You’ is a tense concoction of twisted melodies, while ‘Dune’ circles you, trying to catch you off guard with chanted vocals, staccato percussion and swirling organ” CMU: Approved

Following two EPs via Stockholm based artist collective INGRID, the trio – Ted Malmros (bass & percussion – and also of the Shout Out Louds), American Sarah Snavely (voice, synth, drones, bass, violin and guitar – formerly of Dag för Dag) and drummer Victor Hvidfeldt – release their much anticipated full-length ‘Ice In The Belly, Fire In The Mind’ across all digital platforms via their own imprint Dead Dandelion Collective, on 26th February. ‘Coming For You’ is released the same day.
Exploring a more fully realised aesthetic, ‘Ice In The Belly, Fire In The Mind’ is a confident distillation of  rhythm, songcraft and texture: Signposts to Lykke Li, Susanne Sundfør, Beach House, The Knife, even a Nordic take on Cocteau Twins populate the album, giving the songs a heady Lynch-ian feel.
In July of 2014, Ted & Sarah experimented with producer Petter Winnberg – a fellow INGRID creative – in his farmhouse studio trying out a couple of tracks. Although the sessions proved very satisfactory, the logistics were daunting and – having toyed around with recording platform Logic – they dug in seriously and made the decision to go it alone. So messing around morphed into the real deal, and the remaining 8 tracks were recorded by Sarah, Ted and Victor in central Stockholm in the musty maze of Hotel Örlogshemmet’s basement.
