Norwegian solo artist Amund Maarud is set to release his brand new single “Derailed” through Snaxville Recordings on the 10th March 2014. The same date will also see him release “Dirt” (his second album proper but UK debut album). Maarud will also embark on a 5 date UK headline tour.
The single and album are the perfect showcase for Maarud’s blend of blues based dirty rock. Stand alone single ‘Derailed’ is uplifting blues at its best, echoing the sounds and influences of B.B Kings and John Lee Hooker. The ten track album develops on this theme – from the groove of album opener “Hillside Blues”, to the scuzz of future single “Dirty Laundry” to the driving riffing of “Honey Bee” this is a album of tight grooves, infectious melodies and the unique voice of Amund Maruud.
After the split of his former project The Grand in 2010, Maarud reformed with his brother Henrik, forming a 7-piece outfit known as Backing Band Amund Maarud. He is one of Norways best loved alternative artists – not only winning a Norwegian Grammy Award, has also composed music for The Oprah Winfrey show and debut album “Electric” was produced by Seasick Steve.
