Norwegian Grammy winners King Midas release new video and single

Fresh from winning the Spellemannprisen (“Norwegian Grammy”) for Best Rock Album, electronic art-rock outfit, King Midas, are unleashing their new video for ‘Cy’, ahead of the international release of their award-winning LP, ‘Rosso’, on 3rd March via Fysisk Format.

The video also comes ahead of the release of ‘You Know My Name’, out 10th February, the second single to be taken from ‘Rosso’. This new track sees the band bringing together elements of infectious funk with electro-pop, opening with twinkling 80s-inflected keys and a captivating synth melody, which make way for an emphatic finale of uptempo strings and jazzy sax sounds.  It is a true showcase of the group’s inimitable musicianship and their determination to create music unlike anything of the moment, untouched by current musical fads. It is this dedication which has garnered them great success in their native country.

Having been six years in the making, their new ‘Rosso’ LP has been seen as somewhat of a storming comeback for the group, who have remained an elusive presence on the Norwegian music scene. It is both an intensely personal record and one forged from Norway’s complex, collective history – which only adds to the album’s intrigue. Having set their home country alight with their unique sound, King Midas have the rest of the world fully in their sites, making ‘Rosso’ one of 2014’s most exciting albums from one of Scandanavia’s most captivating exports.
