NPR gives First Listen of Benny Sings’ ‘City Pop’ out 2/22 + US/EU tour

NPR Music is now sharing an advance preview to Benny Sings’ new album ‘City Pop,’ leading up to release day next Friday, February 22nd.
Says NPR, “[Benny’s] sweet spot has always revolved around opulent piano melodies, breakbeats and lyrics that seek remedies for heartbreak…There’s a secret society of Benny Sings fans ready to share him with the world. City Pop feels like the perfect place to start again.”

Today Benny also announces a spring European run including stops in London, Paris, and Amsterdam– all confirmed dates below. Later this month, Benny will play two US release shows: a KCRW-backed LA show at Lodge Room on February 26th and at Mercury Lounge in NYC on February 28th.

Benny Sings debuted in 2003 with Champagne People. Since then he has performed for NPR’s Tiny Desk (their only Dutch guest to date); toured the world with Mayer Hawthorne, and collaborated with the likes of Anderson .Paak, GoldLink, and Mndsgn. In 2017 he co-wrote and featured on Rex Orange County’s megahit “Loving Is Easy.”
On City Pop, Benny delivers real-life observations and insights on love, holding together soft rock-inspired songwriting and jazz instrumentation with his leading piano and distinctive vocal. The album, written and recorded in cities all over the world, celebrates collaboration with Mayer Hawthorne, Cornelius, Sukimaswitch (the “Japanese Steely Dan”), Mocky and Faberyayo among the featured artists.
