Oct. 17, 2014 – The NY Times has named Atlanta indie rockers Gringo Star one of four bands worth checking out at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon, which runs from Oct. 21-25 in New York. The other artists recommended by the Times were Twin Peaks, The Kills and Pompeii.

This news arrives as the band releases a new 7-inch single today on dizzybird records—”Long Time Gone” b/w “World of Spin.” The single’s B-side premiered last month at Paste, while the A-side and the video for the B-side debuted this month at Consequence of Sound and CMJ, respectively.

Currently on tour across the Midwest en route to New York for CMJ, the band celebrates today’s single release in its label’s hometown of Grand Rapids, Mich., with an in-studio interview at WYCE (4  p.m. CT), an in-store at Vertigo Music (6 p.m.) and a release show tonight at The Pyramid Scheme (9 p.m.) with labelmates Heaters.

Gringo Star’s CMJ performances this year will be Oct. 22 at Niagara (Holy Underground showcase), and Oct. 23 at The Knitting Factory (Culture Collide showcase). Check below for a full list of remaining tour dates.
