OvO are now streaming their two track 12″ EP, which features two more tracks from the same recording sessions which spawned Abisso. Side A’s ‘Averno’ is an electronic mantra, whilst on the flip side, ‘Oblio’ is a long, black march. Limited to 500 silkscreened copies and available from CORPOC, you will also be to get your hands on a copy at one of the live dates listed above.

EP STREAM OF AVERNO/OBLIO

Abisso finds the curious noise duo of Stefania Pedretti and Bruno Dorella taking their unorthodox compositions to entirely new dark, rhythmic, and often suffocating realms.

Where Cor Cordium and previous offering, CroceVia, were veritable points-of-no-return for their minimal rock structures, with Dorella’s half drum set and Pedretti’s guitar and penetrating vocal gymnastics swirling into a detached otherworldly kingdom of curiosity, Abisso travels far beyond those confines, using contemporary music tools to maintain their unparalleled creativity and eternal evolution.

Samples, drum machines, pads, field recordings and synths converge into a harrowingly alluring sound that haunts the ears with ancestral urgency. With the help of Giulio “Ragno” Favero at the mixing desk, Giovanni Versari’s mastering, and the friendly collaboration of Gnaw’s Alan Dubin (OLD and Khanate) and Carla Bozulich with her full band, Evangelista, OvO have traversed into new territories of extreme and adventurous listeners are taking notice.

Abisso is out NOW via Supernatual Cat. Order your copy HERE.

Enjoy this studio footage of OvO recording the track “Harmonia Macrocosmica” from Abisso at Dalek Studios

An exciting mix of Faust-like experimentation and Mike Patton’s Extreme dissection of heavy metal. Not easy-listening by any means. but also quite enthralling in its own way, drawing you in like quicksand. If you’ve ever wondered what it would sound like if TG remixed Slayer, then this comes close.– FEAR AND LOATHING

Banshee vocals unfurl over surreal, minimalist soundscapes of drum machines, field recordings and all sorts of cacophonic, synthesised madness. It’s a little bit brilliant.– BIZARRE

Bold, inventive and…thoroughly oppressive.– ROCK A ROLLA

The whole thing positively drips with primal evil and barbaric sex appeal and it gets better and better with every listen, while completely defying comparison with anything other than themselves. For a band to sound this interesting and fresh after twelve or so albums is remarkable and it’s clear that they thrive on frightening as many listeners as they can.– 9/10 SITTING NOW

From start to finish Abisso is a masterpiece of noise, ire, death and fire. Sung or screamed in a barely linguistic patois to fearsome beats and harmonic distortion, that Abisso is so accessible and enjoyable defies convention and defines its success.– TREBUCHET

The album left me feeling elated, if not a little mentally exhausted after processing the myriad of influence and off kilter rhythms, but at the same time with a huge grin plastered over my face. This album see’s OvO reach maturity and even though the vibe IS so strange and out-there, the way in which they manage to inject such infectious enthusiasm into the mix pretty much ensures there will be a legion of new recruits rallying to their cause. For me though this is without a doubt album of the year so far. Get it, get it now!”– SLEEPING SHAMAN

The pungent psychotic majesty of Aeneis sends the senses into a cataclysmic lust next before Harmonia Macrocosmica unveils its sweltering beauty upon a sludge evoked canvas of bass fuelled predation, its cauldron of superbly sculpted evocative and equally mordant sonic fascination a hypnotic enslavement. The track brews up a violent intensity and murderous intent the further into its depths the listener immerses but still merges it with a melodic elegance which flickers like a raging beacon within the oppressive darkness of sound and spite…OvO and their album provide emotional and mental infringements which work like aural manna.– 9/10 RINGMASTER

“It’s a truly impressive release that’s truly in a league of its own. It’s also sh*t-yer-pants scary, not simply because of its monumental weight and bowel-shuddering frequencies, but because it’s without doubt the sonic encapsulation of hell and the underworld and every psychopathy imaginable compressed into a single LP. Terrifying.. and awesome.” – 9/10 WHISPERIN AND HOLLERIN
