West London’s dance music savant p-rallel today returns with a brand new single ‘Fooling Me Twice’ featuring previous collaborator Dom Valentino, via the label head’s own new imprint, Nevermind Recordings. Currently on tour in Asia and Australia, ‘Fooling Me Twice’ sets out p-rallel’s stall for a huge year of dancefloor bangers and new collaborations, kicking us off with a garage inflected club cut with a shuffling groove and earworm vocal chops.
The track was written and conceived in the dance as p-rallel explains: “I came back from Thailand this time last year and went straight into the studio with Dom Valentino. We created a couple ideas and Fooling Me Twice was one of them. We ended up going to Koko Electronic halfway through our session just to catch a vibe for a couple hours and then went back to the studio at like 4-5am and finished it off.”
With each release, p-rallel has reinvented the UK’s rich musical heritage with a future-facing spin for a new generation of ravers. 2022’s breakout EP, Forward connected the dots between genres like garage, rap, house and afrobeat, twisting and stretching them into new forms that weave together into something entirely new. Next came 2023’s full length club-focused mixtape, Movement. In his own words, it was designed as “a DJ set in the shape of a project you can take with you for p-rallel vibes anytime & anywhere”. It featured his viral reworking of garage classic ‘It’s a LUNDUN Thing’ alongside appearances from the likes of BXKS, Kam-Bu, Dom Valentino, Tamera, Toddla T & Deto Black.
p-rallel has achieved a status that far outweighs his years and he is one of the most well-respected names in West London’s inner music scene, in part responsible for the changing face of London’s clubbing landscapes. 2024 was a landmark year for him in the live space: he toured across the UK, performed a sold-out headline show at KOKO under his Nevermind banner, was booked for a slew of festival sets including Glastonbury, Creamfields, Boardmasters, Outlook, Rise + more, and held down his first residency in Ibiza for Amnesia. This summer he also joined the Rinse FM family, becoming one of their flagship DJs after 7 years at NTS. He has partnered with the likes of Red Bull, Axel Arigato, Guess Jeans, Dr Martens and broadcasted sets for Aime Leon Dore, Keep Hush, Defected,, Boiler Room and CRACK magazine.
Despite taking a step back from his own releases last year, p-rallel dropped collaborations with GEE LEE & Yung Franco, plus remixes for Aluna, Jorja Smith and Wookie while working away on an arsenal of new music for 2025 which will arrive on his own Nevermind imprint – stay tuned for more from p-rallel coming soon.
