Pampers relentless breakneck tempos and all-out aggression tilt the band more punk than art. Self-described as “thug pop”, the band’s sound is a brutal psyched-out pummeling with hooks fighting to be heard beneath the din. The band released their debut album in 2013, produced by Ben Greenberg of The Men, via In The Red Records; “Pampers” is twelve tracks that explodes with “Eruptions” and doesn’t let up until “Head Bag” fizzles out in a whirl of guitar noise and the band’s equipment buzzing. Everything in between is a cavernous whomp of mongoloid vox, primitive yet precise drumming and a cloud of warped sonics swirling above the rock n’ roll thud; Pampers delivers.

Presumably, a good-looking, highly intelligent person like yourself is very familiar with the adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Thing is, what might be applicable to a functioning washer/dryer, chainsaw, food processor or high-end vibrator has absolutely nothing to do with the artistic ambitions of a rock’n’roll band worth giving a fuck about. Some might choose to argue the point, but no one is going to mistake the 2015 OBN III’s with a washer/dryer, chainsaw, food processor or high-end vibrator. Recorded with the assistance of producer Mike McCarthy (Cherubs, Spoon, A Giant Dog), though ‘Worth A Lot Of Money’ might be a quantum leap forward in recording quality for this band, there’s no trickery in action, as anyone who’s seen these guys on multiple continents over the last year can attest. In Triplett, Neeley’s got a virtuoso-level guitar foil ; in Goodwin & Jones, the foundation for, well, greatness. That’s the goal, anyway.

“I GOT A RIGHT”. It’s hard for me to look back and imagine a world where ROCK AND ROLL did not exist, but was it really that long ago? I watched Lemmy say he remembers before you could hear ROCK AND ROLL on the radio, and hell, Lemmy’s still alive. It changes and it stays the same, it travels a path unlike anything else. ROCK AND ROLL can be a lot of things but above all it should be RAW and REAL. Brooklyn’s HONEY live their lives with, for, and because of ROCK AND ROLL. Huge Guitar and Thunderous Bass are beat together by Sprawling Drums – A psychedelic punk hodgepodge scattered across space, time & whatever else”. – ?
