First generation punk act Penetration will release their third studio album in early October, their first since the group initially decided to split during a UK tour to promote ‘Coming Up For Air’ in 1979. Although key members Pauline Murray (vocals) and Robert Blamire (bass) reformed the band in 2002 to play live shows, they have been reluctant to make an album ….until now.
Joined by drummer John Maher (Buzzcocks), guitarists Steve Wallace and Paul Harvey, plus a guest appearance by original band guitarist Fred Purser, ‘Resolution’ has been funded by a successful Pledge campaign. The album retains the essential components of Penetration, with subtle references to the band’s previous releases sprinkled throughout. Produced by Blamire, his bass combined with Maher’s drumming provides a strong rhythm section and the powerful and distinctive guitar parts of Wallace and Harvey blend perfectly together, leaving Murray’s still strong and distinctive voice to convey passionate yet intelligent lyrical subject matter.
The album artwork has been designed by the legendary Vaughan Oliver, who was in the same class at school with Murray and Blamire!
‘Resolution‘ will be promoted with a run of UK live dates that include the following :
