Phoenix perform at the 2024 Olympic Closing Ceremony, joined by AIR + play All Points East Aug 25th

Iconic French band Phoenix – comprised of brothers Laurent Brancowitz and Christian Mazzalai along with Thomas Mars and Deck D’Arcy – can add one more accolade to their two decades’ worth of incredible moments as, last night they performed at the 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony in Paris in front of the most celebrated athletes in the world and a global audience of millions.

About the performance, the band say “We are infinitely happy to have had the chance to celebrate with all the athletes and the entire world at the Closing of the Olympic Games in our beloved city of Paris. It was a wonderful moment to have been invited to take the stage with our friends from France and around the world, honouring the French spirit and remaining true to our motto: Liberté, Égalité, Phoenix! We are thrilled to both pass the baton to the Paralympics athletes and to Los Angeles for the forthcoming 2028 games”

For their performance, Phoenix put together a set of hits, fan favourites, collaborations, and covers with special guests the band heartfully curated, including AIR and Kavinsky who have also helped define France’s music scene over the last twenty years.

Phoenix and AIR are the two groups that perfectly embody that French style so admired abroad, known as La French Touch. Speaking on the honour they shared, “It is such a thrill to share the stage with our friends Phoenix and perform ‘Playground Love’ together in front of the eyes of the world. Thank you, Phoenix!”

Phoenix will be performing at London’s All Points East Festival on August 25th joined by The Decemberists, Gossip, Say She She, Everything Everything and more. Tickets are available here.
