Pre-order Fred Thomas ‘Aftering’
Something mystical opened up for Fred Thomas in the fall of 2013, when the prolific songwriter moved from his already emotionally open style into a direct lyrical approach with new levels of detail-fixated production. The results of that creatively eruptive time began with 2015’s critically hailed album All Are Saved, continued into the turbulent pop of 2017’s Changer and now float into Aftering, a record that feels like the final chapter of an unofficial trilogy.
Featuring contributions from Anna Burch and members of Common Holly, Wild Belle, Wolf Eyes, and Bonny Doon, Aftering can feel sometimes painful, but there’s a clarity and beauty that’s always there as well, equally bright in even the darkest moments.
Watch Fred Thomas‘ new music video for “Good Times Are Gone Again,” which he describes as looking at “…the feeling of dread and exhaustion, tfw the rug is pulled out from under you abruptly and panic sets in.
