Expected to Break Record Set Earlier This Month of $700K
If the auction earlier this month of Prince’s “Cloud” guitar for $700K (which broke current records) is any indication, this guitar, which was shaped in his signature love symbol (which he changed his official performing name to in 1993), will surely exceed that – by a longshot.
This is one of the latest – and most exceptional – additions to Guernsey’s Legendary Guitars & Musical Treasures Auction, to be held on Dec. 2 in New York City.
PRINCE SIGNATURE GUITAR EXPECTED TO SHATTER RECORDS AT AUCTION DEC. 2
“There’s really no telling how much this guitar could bring. His ‘Cloud’ guitar sold for ten times the estimate earlier this month, and Guernsey’s, earlier this year, sold Jerry Garcia’s ‘Wolf’ guitar for nearly $2 Million, which nearly doubled many early auction estimates,” said Arlan Ettinger, President of Guernsey’s. “With the unfortunate passing of Prince in April – his legacy is stronger than ever, and collectors will do – or pay – just about anything to get their hands on this once-in-a-lifetime iconic symbol of one of the greatest music legends to ever live.”
