Pure Love – Anthems

Anthems is the much anticipated full length release from former hardcore kings Frank Carter and Jim Caroll who are going under the name of Pure Love. Way from their old hardcore routes Anthems is filled with pop rock songs that run similar in structure and styled to that of Springsteen and The Gaslight Anthem.

Having already released a handful of singles from this album Pure Love have already lay down the foundations for success but now with the album now being available for fans to get their greasy palms on it is obvious that something bigger and better than what they have achieved in the past is on the cards. Songs that well written and lyrics that speak out to an audience are written few and far between in this current scene but Pure Love seem to be on a mission to fix this.

Opener ‘She (makes the devil run through me)’ sets the tone for the rock and roll onslaught that is about to come through my speakers and closer ‘March of the Pilgrims’ wraps the whole album up nicely. Songs in-between about a twisted style of love, being tired of singing hate filled lyrics, standing up for yourself and songs about the opposite sex give the album a unique feel and gives everyone at least something on the album to like.

If you are a fan of melody then this album is for you. If you are a fan of vicious lyrics that speak to you then this album is for you. If you a fan of old school rock solos then this album is for you. If you are a fan of melody and a pounding rhythm section then this album is for you.

If you are a fan of great music then … well you catch my drift. 8.8/10
