Today, downtown NYC Queer legend Cazwell returns to announce HITS ALL OVER YOUR FACE [The Peace Bisquit Collection], a double LP compilation featuring remastered hits, new favorites, and deep cuts from his creative, collaborative, and provocative tenure with the iconic Brooklyn label Peace Bisquit from 2006 to 2019. Set for release on September 12, the project honors Cazwell’s unprecedented and enduring legacy in hip hop as a queer icon as well as celebrates Peace Bisquit’s 35th Year anniversary this year.

To celebrate the announcement, Cazwell shared the throbbing new single “Daddy.” Pulsating with a sweaty beat dialed up to 11, the XXX-flavored track explodes with the edgy and unapologetic energy Cazwell is legendary for. “The song ‘Daddy’ is emblematic of why it is important for LGBTQ artists to be as loud and disruptive with their craft as possible during times of extreme conservatism. I’m not able to go to every protest in the country, but I can always write a song about eating ass,” Cazwell shares. “I started recording ‘Daddy’ with MASCFISH simply to make a song to accompany my clothing brand Daddy Department. When I decided I wanted the song to be a single, I requested my long-time collaborator Bill Coleman of Peace Bisquit and John Carr (collectively known as 808 BEACH) to jump on board and produce it into a dance floor banger.”

Alongside “Daddy,” Cazwell also re-released and remastered his carnal hit “Unzip Me” featuring Peaches as a taste of the mix of new and old hits found on the release. “Peaches has the ultimate ‘bad girl’ voice which sounds like absolute perfection on any rock song. So, I knew she was going to help elevate the anarchic electoral feel of ‘Unzip Me,’ Cazwell says on the collaboration.

Peace Bisquit label owner Bill Coleman adds “Producing this track for Cazwell back in 2011 was a bit of a fever dream. Caz was firing on all cylinders lyrically and Peaches is our forever queen of all things – we were honored that she agreed to jump in and play with us. What a combo!” The video, which features the iconic quartet of Amanda Lepore, Narcissister, Paisley Dalton, and Justin Vivian Bond and was directed by Bec Stupak, is a time capsule of 2011 New York wrapped in a punky, carefree, post-Electroclash DIY attitude.

HITS ALL OVER YOUR FACE [The Peace Bisquit Collection], is an anthology of songs during Cazwell’s almost 20 year collaboration with Peace Bisquit newly remastered and featuring three previously unreleased or new tunes. As he explains, “The songs and videos feel like a time capsule of reactions and pushback against the homophobia during the Bush and Obama years. Combing through the songs that came out while Obama was in office come from a more carefree time with titles like ‘Ice Cream Truck’ and ‘Rice & Beans.’ In contrast, Cazwell’s newest tracks have a rougher sound, emblematic of how much tougher music must be to fight against a popular conservative mentality. Placed together on this compilation, the project as a whole underscores the evolution and reflective nature of Cazwell’s sound and as always, is meant to, as he says, “instill a sense of pride in gay men and get them to release their shame and connect with self love.”
