London based, singer songwriter and mult-instrumentalist Rachel Clark is set to release her debut single on Ditto Music on the 20th October 2014.
The ‘Invasion’ EP, a digital release featuring four tracks, marks her debut ‘proper’ and follows the recent demo ‘Safer’ which received multiple radio plays on the likes of BBC Introducing and the Dermot O’Leary Show.
Produced by Piers Mortimer at Headline Music Studios’, ‘Invasion’ represents the most personal aspects of Clark’s songwriting as the songs come together to tell a story. From poignant guitar based balladry to a dramatic array of sound and emotion, her music is captivating and magnetic and the pure, earthy vocals are similar to that of Gabrielle Aplin, a musical hero of Rachel’s.
The EP’s four tracks are about the people and occurrences in the singer’s life which she explains “. . . I like to write metaphorically to disguise personal meanings and allow audiences to build their own relationship with my songs. Sometimes I like to write a lyric in my songs that only the person it’s aimed towards would understand.”
Rachel has been performing music since she was eight and has arranged and written all of the original recordings featured on the EP. She is inspired by the likes of Lucy Rose, Ben Howard and Ellie Goulding and most recently by Dan Croll, who’s more experimental sound she explains “ … makes me want to discover new ways of producing music that my fans will enjoy.”
Successfully performing at shows and festivals over the last year or so, Clark is building up a dedicated and loyal fan base which should set her up nicely for main stage appearances next year.
With the future looking bright for one of the UK’s newest emerging talents, Rachel Clark will continue to write and record, focusing on creating her debut album and continue to perform and headline gigs throughout the UK.
