The Ramona Flowers share video for new single ‘Skies Turn Gold’
VIDEO PREMIERE OF NEW SINGLE ‘SKIES TURN GOLD’
AND US TOUR WITH THE HEAVY
The Ramona Flowers have released the video for new single ‘Skies Turn Gold’ which is out now on Distiller Records. Featuring stunning and hypnotic dancing from the main characters, the promo is described by director Fx Goby as being inspired by the lyric in the song “don’t wake me up from this” – “this made me want to create a film in which we see characters going through something quite powerful, something extraordinary that they wouldn’t want to stop”. Creative Director Tom Bird explains “This video is about embracing what we are or what we can be, the notion that there are hidden characters within us, bright creatures that are waiting for the right moment to come out and shine – we wanted these characters to reveal their inner gold.”
The Bristol based five-piece The Ramona Flowers will also be heading to the US in September for a 14 date tour with The Heavy before returning to support White Lies on their European and UK tour.
With its swaggering dance beat, layered sonic textures and pop immediacy, ‘Skies Turn Gold’ is the follow up to ‘Dirty World’ and taken from their second album ‘Part Time Spies’ out September 9th.
The euphoric ‘Skies Turn Gold’ came from Dave Betts and Sam James spending a day in the studio trying to write “a classic four-on-the-floor dance track, with all the clichés chucked in” over which vocalist Steve Bird wrote a lyric about letting loose and being with the people you love. As the first track written for the album, ‘Skies Turn Gold’ laid the blueprint for a record teeming with 80’s influence alongside current groups like Everything Everything, M83 and Phoenix.

‘Part Time Spies’ is a record surging with human warmth, filled with songs about the things that make life tick: death, rising rents, narcissism, broken relationships, selfies, the end of privacy, drunken nights out and hungover mornings in. It is a record irrevocably now and of this moment, filled with songs that will make you hug your friends, console your friends and dance with your friends.
Co-produced alongside Friendly Fires and Passion Pit collaborator Chris Zane, the record was recorded late 2015 at The Distillery Studios in Bath.
