re6ce shares new single ‘angels’

Today, re6ce shares brand new track ‘angels’. One of the UK’s most exciting new artists – re6ce aka Reece Downes, a 17 year-old artist from Liverpool – has been making music since 2021, at home on his laptop. ‘angels’ follows previous tracks, ‘fuzz’ and ‘can we change the subject?’ released earlier this year. This new single sees re6ce reflecting on the struggles of a strained relationship that has taken its toll, leaving him tired and confused – “I’m going to burn out like I’m Icarus”.

Speaking on the track, he explains “I made angels in a small home studio in London while traveling with a friend of mine. I wrote ‘angels’ about feeling pressured by your surroundings and being stressed about how uncertain the future can seem sometimes. This is probably my favourite song on the EP as I am more vulnerable and talking about pressure (whether it be academic, social or public) and the need to feel or act a specific way or furthermore fit into a certain box and role in life that I feel a lot of people will resonate with.”

Inspired by UK punk, hyperpop, indie and US cloud rap, re6ce has already found success on TikTok with previous track ‘teeth (you)’ racking up millions of streams, and has quickly established himself among up and coming artists such as Riovaz and Overpade, cultivating a growing fanbase. re6ce draws inspiration from online-adjacent pop artists like ericdoa and PinkPantheress to create his own blend of UK grunge & punk influenced pop music.
