Reasons to be Cheerful is back!

The Reasons to be Cheerful project I started about three years ago is back.About six months ago I realized 1) that this project was going to keep going, and 2) that it therefore needed to be both more professional and to post more often. So, after going dark for some months, the website is back and much has changed.

Christine McLaren and Will Doig, the RTBC editorial team, and I have been editing, researching and writing like crazy, joined by a small (so far) group of outside writer/journalists. Our web designer, Jose Reyes, along with his team at MisterFreek have created a site that we think is fun, clearly organized and easy to navigate so we can bring you more and better reasons to be cheerful.

What is Reasons to be Cheerful?It’s an online editorial project that focuses on what is often called “solutions journalism”—news about positive, hopeful and (this part is very important) successful initiatives from around the world. Through sharp reporting, the stories balance a sense of healthy optimism with journalistic rigor and find cause for hope. It is part magazine, part therapy session, part blueprint for a better world.We’ll post new stories twice a week. Reasons to be Cheerful is free, and is supported by the Arbutus Foundation, a new non-profit. Please check it out, and subscribe to our newsletter if you wish.
