WELCOME TO REBELLION 2017

Well folks it’s nearly time! We’re already in Blackpool and the set up begins as does the countdown to Thursday and the start of 4 days of music, friendship, drinking and the biggest Punk Rock party on the planet! There’s a few different things this year, so read on to find out what’s going on. We’re also launching 2 more Rebellion events for 2018 in London and Amsterdam, so check those out below too!

CHANGES TO THIS YEAR

There are a couple of major changes this year from previous years. So please take a moment to read this.

Firstly, the usual ENTRY / EXIT point of the building that takes you to wristband exchange / box office and into the front foyer is ENTRY ONLY again this year. To exit the building you will have to walk past the Opera House entrance (opposite Sharky’s bar) and leave via the Church St exit. This will bring you straight outside opposite St Johns church. This is to ensure that we can get you in / out of the building as efficiently and as quickly as possible. With the expected amount of people we want to make sure we don’t cause any bottlenecks. Once you have your wristband, you can ENTER via the Church St doors too.

Our outdoor stage this year, THE CASBAH, is at the rear of the building. Entrance to this stage is via the EMPRESS BALLROOM FOYER. Smoking is permitted in this area. Please note there is no smoking anywhere inside the Winter Gardens. There’s is no re-admission to the Winter Gardens via the foyer. You will exit THE CASBAH and need to walk around to either the Church St doors or the box office doors.

There is a map in the festival programme, the pocket Black & White programme and there will be flyers on the info point with a map on too. You can also check it out HERE

It will be easy to work out once you’re here!

WRISTBAND EXCHANGE

We’re opening on WEDNESDAY 1pm – 7pm for wristband exchange. If you’re around on the Wednesday it makes sense to do this as THURSDAY morning is pretty manic trying to process thousands of people and get them in to the building. Doors open at 11am on Thursday.

TICKETS – ON THE DOOR & TICKETS FOR 2018

TICKETS – ON THE DOOR

Last year was unprecedented and was SOLD OUT, resulting in us having to turn people away for the first time. Whilst this year is shaping up to be our second busiest year ever, there will still be enough tickets available on the door to cater for any walk up. These include weekend AND day tickets. So anyone that’s thinking of a last minute jolly up to Blackpool then don’t worry, you’ll be able to buy tickets on the door and get in

TICKETS – 2018

As usual we will be doing a very limited run of tickets for next year at a special festival price of £135. These will be available from the Box Office. Limited to only 500 it will be first come first served. We can also only take cash for 2018 tickets. So if you are a regular and know you’re coming next year regardless, this is a fantastic way to save money on the final ticket price!

Early Bird tickets will go on general sale from our website on Monday 7th August at £140.

THE LITERARY STAGE

The Literary Stage is taking a break this year, as we are focusing on celebrating 10 years of Punk Art, however we are keeping the Literary theme going with ‘Barry Cain Presents’ in the Pavilion and we also have a series of interviews within the Punk Art area in the Spanish Halls, discussing the Art of Punk & the alternative scene.

BARRY CAIN PRESENTS:

Barry is the author of ’77 Sulphate Strip’, an eyewitness account of the year that punk broke. To celebrate the 40th year since these seminal events, Barry will be presenting a series of interviews & artists from ‘back in the day’.

Andrew Czezowski and Susan Carrington – on Thursday we have an interview with founders of the legendary Roxy Club, which was at the epicentre of the burgeoning punk scene in 1977.

Rat Scabies – on Friday Barry will be interviewing the legendary Damned drummer

Glen Matlock – on Saturday the man who wrote several punk classics, will be playing an acoustic set and sharing anecdotes

Nicky Weller – the surname will be familiar to many of you. Barry will be interviewing the lady responsible for the Jam exhibition about her experiences growing up with The Jam and punk, along with discussing the forthcoming book ‘Growing up with Punk’.

REBELLION APP

We’ve had a few issues with the APP this year but it should be updated in time for the festival. However, all the info (ie Time Lists) are available on our website. It’s RESPONSIVE meaning it works well on all mobile devices so you should be able to check out the line up easy enough from your phones by visiting: http://www.rebellionfestivals.com/line-up/days

You can also search for bands by A-Z and find out where they’re playing which is far easier than scrolling through each day / stage trying to find a particular band.

We will use TWITTER to update you with any essential info over the weekend. If you don’t have a Twitter account, don’t worry as that automatically updates the news feed on our homepage, so just check out www.rebellionfestivals.com

SAFETY & SECURITY

Due to the increased security threats that face events currently, we’d like to assure you that we have been liaising with the venue, council and police regarding your safety at Rebellion. We already have more security per 100 people than is recommended and there will be other measures in place. Your co-operation is essential to ensure that everyone remains safe.

If you see / hear anything suspicious please report it to a member of security immediately.

Don’t bring bags into the venue if you can avoid it.

There is NO CLOAKROOM this year.

You will be searched and it delays people getting in to the venue.

24 Hour Report line – For any security issues you can contact the venue on: 01253 629748 or dial 999.

There is more than enough capacity throughout all the stages in the venue to cater for everyone that has a ticket.

There may be times when you have to queue to get into the building or a venue. Security HAVE to check your wristband and bags. This is for everyone’s safety. Please be patient and kind, not only with each other but also with the bar staff, security and other staff, thank you.

We apologise if your first choice of band is not available. However, there are up to 7 stages running simultaneously so there’s plenty of choices and options. This is the nature of a multi-stage festival.

Stay safe. Be alert. Look after each other. Enjoy the weekend.

We hope to see as many of you here as possible!

Lots of Love
