Record Store Day – Blue House release ‘Summer Clouds’ feat. Clémentine March

BLUE HOUSE RELEASE SECOND TRACK FEATURING CLÉMENTINE MARCH FOR RECORD STORE DAY

Blue House released their curious and charming debut full-length ‘Suppose’ back in 2016 via Whipped Cream Records, put together with producer Capitol K (Alabaster Deplume, Rozi Plain, Bas Jan, Comet is Coming) at London’s Total Refreshment Centre. The album won praise across the board, presenting us with a world of haunted pop — songs about people just departed, places just left, and events just witnessed.

Move on a year and in October 2017, French chanteuse and Snapped Ankles bassist Clémentine March received an invitation to record two songs at the legendary Abbey Road Studios with producer Hans-Martin Buff (Prince, No Doubt). She paired with Blue House, resulting in this Record Store Day collaboration. Blue House’s James Howard penned first offering ‘A Ticket For The London Necropolis Railway,’ and Clémentine wrote ‘Summer Clouds,’ a meditative and simple reflection on a love affair through the passing of the seasons. The 7” release sees vocal roles swapped over, with Ursula Russell (Blue House) singing Clémentine’s track, and Clémentine bringing her voice to the Blue House song. She had this to say on the new single:

“I composed Summer Clouds in collaboration with the Argentinian poet Javier Leibiusky. I lived in South America (São Paulo and Buenos Aires), and Summer Clouds was much influenced by Chico Buarque’s melodic and harmonic writing, while reminiscing about my teenage love for the Beatles. Ursula Russell is the lead singer, and the song is a highlight to play on stage.”

There are only 20 copies of the vinyl in circulation, distributed amongst independent record shops in the U.K. Blue House set out on their first U.K. tour in May with Clémentine March joining them as support and in the live band. Both acts will release new albums later in the year
