Sirens blaring, chaos in the streets, and bomb-wrecked buildings – these scenes are a constant in the Ukraine right now. The MV to “My Revolution” shows these scenes of unrest. But it is Red Bird Rising’s beautiful lyrics and inviting music that will be reeling listeners in. Red Bird Rising is Diedrich Donald Weiss and he is a musician, songwriter and producer who is driven to get his music out there. With the help of musicians and collaborators, Weiss’s music is the type you’ll be returning to again and again. It’s that dynamic. With “My Revolution,” Weiss included the help of husband and wife Taras Kuznetsov and Ana Pshokina who contributed on lead vocals and bass respectively, among other collaborators. When writing the song, Weiss wanted to get into the mind of Kuznetsov and write in his POV. The outcome is something truly stirring and deep.
The music itself is very dynamic with Kuznetsov’s smooth vocal harmonies making a cool blend with the music. There were no samples or overdubs in the music – only pure instrumentation is used. This went on to create a great live sound and I thought everything on this track sounded really great.
Red Bird Rising has done something truly moving here. In answer to the horrors happening in the Ukraine, this relevant track hits the pulse of what’s going on right now. The scenes of chaos mixed with scenes of a dance sequence where dancer and choreographer, Melina Ascune, bares her soul was truly mesmerizing. From beginning to end, this meaningful song will get you fired up to join the “revolution.” 7/10
