In anticipation of his Hold EP set for release tomorrow, Nova Scotia-based musician Rich Aucoin shares a new teaser track titled “The Dream” with Under The Radar. Highlighted by dreamy synths and an insistent baseline, Aucoin comments:
“The Dream is a song about the contentment we can feel at an individual level when daydreaming or imagining a different world. It’s not about the achieving of making that world come to reality but looks at the various therapeutic benefits from such an endeavour. Whether it be imagining a time where you are not heartbroken, in an estrangement, or in conflict with the changes in your life, that power to picture yourself beyond the given moment is a useful tool for accepting the way things are and getting to that new spot, The Dream.”
The Hold EP is a stark contrast to the short high-tempo songs from Aucoin’s previous release, hinting toward a rebirth. Tracks like “Release” and “The Middle” have earned acclaim from the likes of Noisey, Paste Magazine, and Exclaim! – showcasing his undeniable ability to transform and manipulate sound. Just as his last album led him on a tour across Canada while raising money for childhood leukemia research, fans can expect nothing less this time around.
Aucoin will kick off his fifteen-date PRESS ON tour on March 26th. Unlike a traditional tour, he will be bicycling from city to city, raising awareness for mental health by donating 100% of proceeds to Mental Health America and The Canadian Mental Health Association. Aucoin will be joined by bandmates in each city as he pedals alone across the deserts, mountains, and forests of America.
At each show, fans can expect a joyous celebratory event – his positive life-affirming shows have often been described as a natural antidepressant. Fans who are unable to attend are encouraged to donate to Aucoin’s crowdrise campaign. See below for a full date listing!
