Ride To play New Album nowhere In Its Entirety On Forthcoming Tour
RIDE today announce that in further celebration of the 25th anniversary of their debut album ‘Nowhere’, they will be performing the entire album IN FULL for the first time ever at all dates on theirforthcoming UK tour, which starts in Leeds on 11th October.
The band’s set at each tour stop will comprise of a classic Ride set-list to open the show, followed by the performance of ‘Nowhere’ from start to finish. Whilst album tracks ‘Vapour Trail’, ‘Dreams Burn Down’ and ‘Taste’ have regularly featured in their live performances over the years, this will be the ONLY chance to see the Oxford four-piece playing their shoegaze classic in its entirety.
Andy Bell said:
I’m so excited about playing “Nowhere” in full. We are going with the 11 track CD track listing, not just the 8 tracks from the original vinyl. So the set will end with the title track on every gig of the UK tour, which is going to sound epic.
I didn’t realise how few times we’d actually played most of the songs. And of course we have never played the album in its original track order before.
We have been throwing in versions of some of the songs at our US dates but the majority of the preparation for these shows was done during rehearsals in London in-between our festival shows this summer. I’m especially buzzing about how “Kaleidoscope” is sounding. It’s going to be amazing playing it for the first time. All in all, it’s a big deal to us, and we haven’t been certain we could pull it off until now. We as a band are so proud of the album and we are aware that fans have been campaigning for us to perform it in full on this tour but it’s only now that we are sure we can do the album justice.
Ride will release ‘Nowhere25’ on 6th November, a CD+DVD release featuring the expanded 15-track album alongside the live recording of their concert at London’s Town & Country Club in March 1991 that until recently had been lost in the archives. A heavyweight blue marble vinyl version will also be available.
The band will also make an appearance at a special playback event in London next week. ‘Guardian Live | Classic Album Sundays presents Nowhere’ takes place on 7th October, for more information and tickets:
‘Nowhere’ was originally released on 15th October 1990, featuring classic tracks including ‘Vapour Trail’, ‘Polar Bear’ and ‘Dreams Burn Down’. Widely considered one of the greatest albums not only of the ‘shoegaze’ genre, but of the 90s, ‘Nowhere’ was Creation Records’ first Top 75 album, peaking in the UK album charts at #11, and continues to appear in various album lists from respected music titles such as Pitchfork and NME. The 15 track album version features three tracks from the ‘Fall’ EP, released in September 1990 in the lead up to ‘Nowhere’, plus four songs from the ‘Today Forever’ EP, which came out the week of the Town & Country Club show in March 1991. This show was part of a short UK tour to support ‘Today Forever’, the first new material from Ride since ‘Nowhere’.
