Tickets for the first year of the festival available now viawww.rockawaybeach.co.uk from £79 pp inc accommodation.
Winners of the 2014 Mercury Music Prize Young Fathers lead the second charge of musical guests, armed with what Uncut described as an “arrestingly adventurous” debut record ‘Dead’, and the equally as critically acclaimed 2015 follow-on ‘White Men Are Black Men Too’ – dubbed by the Guardian as “a superb mix of pop and politics”.
Following the release of her new LP ‘Fast Food’ in May of this year, and offering guest vocals on Rockaway Beach bill-mate Ghostpoet’s ‘Shedding Skin’, Nadine Shah brings a powerful and unshakable confidence to the festival. Teeth Of The Sea will make their first live appearance since last year’s Liverpool International Festival of Psychadelia, while Du Blonde will be joining the line-up having played support to Future Islands, and hosting a residency at London’s Shacklewell Arms.
Errors, Flowers, Misty Miller and Zyna Hel complete the next wave of music hitting the West Sussex shoreline this October. With the likes of Shocking Pinksfrom New Zealand and Pinkshinyultrablast from Russia, it’s a truly international line-up celebrating emerging talent from across the globe.
This follows the initial announcement of festival headliners, including former Smiths guitarist and The Cribs collaborator Johnny Marr, cinematic space rock icons Spiritualized, and Liverpool legends Echo & The Bunnymen. The Fall, and The Monochrome Set are among the many legendary rockers appearing at the hotly anticipated festival while stellar new talent will come in the form of Ghostpoet, Public Service Broadcasting and James Holden (Live).
Taking place across three full, late nights of music and arts from 9-11 October atButlin’s Bognor Regis, the event will give festival-lovers the chance to feed their love of music outside of the summer season and allow them to forget the usual mud and tents. Each set will take place in fantastic indoor venues that boast exceptional sound quality while the resort will give guests the best possible festival experience with great accommodation and food and drink choices close to the music.
Butlin’s Bognor Regis resort has a residential capacity of 5,000 and offers a variety of on-site music venues, as well as restaurants, bars, shops, an indoor swimming pool, and various entertainment facilities creating an intimate environment for fans to build a holiday around live performances. With more still to unveil, including daytime sessions, film screenings and Rockaway “Lates”, the festival is shaping up to be one the UK’s leading post-summer 18+ events with plans for 2016 already underway.
Festival Organiser, Ian Crowther from The Way of Music, said: “The inspiration for Rockaway Beach comes from the pure excitement of hearing great music for the first time and will bring together a selection of the best emerging, breakthrough talent and established alternative artists.”
“Of course, many festival-goers are buying tickets because of the legends playing. Johnny Marr is a god-like genius in every sense of the word, a true icon of independent music. Echo & The Bunnymen and The Fall are some of our greatest legends of post-punk. But what’s special about all of these stars is that they are still creating, still being absolutely brilliant, and playing music. Rockaway Beach will be an intimate festival, allowing audience and artist to get close and share their love of music.”
Tickets are on sale now and include accommodation and access to all live music venues. For more information visit www.rockawaybeach.co.uk.
