Rosborough has today released a stunningly authentic cover of Daniel Johnston’s ‘True Love Will Find You In The End’, plus an accompanying live performance video. Echoing the simplicity of the original, Rosborough’s interpretation features just vocals and an acoustic guitar.
“I discovered Daniel like most people discover their favourite music, through someone passing it on,” says Rosborough. “When I was about 13, I was in a friend’s house after school and their older brother had a tape. At that time, I was recording little demos onto an old tape deck with my acoustic in my bedroom, and much like Daniel, drawing wee doodles of my imagined album covers.”
“When I first heard the song, it was like the world stopped, there was nothing but this person and this (slightly out of tune) guitar and nothing else. It was the sweetest most honest thing I’d heard and it still holds true now. The bravery of bearing yourself that much, to write something so beautiful but so simple and more over so honest struck a chord which I don’t think will ever fade. He wasn’t perfect, he wasn’t cool, he wasn’t anything like the glammed up stories you’d hear of bands on TV. He was a songwriter, someone who could stop the world with three chords and words that actually meant something. It really solidified the notion that I was actually doing something worthwhile, that you don’t have to be cool or popular, good looking. One of the greatest minds in popular music sold tapes in a car park.”

‘True Love Will Find You In The End’ follows the recent release of an acoustic version and performance video of ‘Burn Blue’, the incredible track that launched his career in his native Northern Ireland. Awarded Single Of The Fortnight by Hot Press magazine, ‘Burn Blue’ was described as “Jawdropping” by Daily Mirror (Ulster), who voted it their No.1 track of 2017. Radio support came from every major Irish network, and Rosborough was invited to perform at the prestigious Other Voices Festival in Dingle alongside artists including Loyle Carner and Django Django. ‘Burn Blue’ was also recently nominated as Best Single in Northern Ireland’s Music Prize 2018 https://www.nimusicprize.com/.
Rosborough’s soaring, cinematic recent single ‘Fall To Earth’ was awarded Track of The Fortnight in Hot Press (“sounds nothing short of world beating”) and was playlisted at Radio X. ‘Fall To Earth’ followed his UK debut single ‘Another Lesson’, which received radio support from Radio 1, Radio X and 6 Music.
Rosborough opened 2018 with a headline Irish tour and supported Neon Waltz on their UK tour in March before performing at a plethora of prestigious festivals over the summer. Following a recent tour in support of Seafret, he will tour the UK again in December with DMA’S.
