“An intelligent, open-hearted ascending star” – Dazed
“Beautiful and thrilling” – Grazia
Rosie Lowe returns today with her first new music in two years, ‘The Light’. A collaboration with Henry Wu, Rosie has also announced details of an intimate European headline tour for the spring, which are on sale today (and include Omeara on March 14th). Recently confirmed for a monthly show on London’s new female-led radio station, Foundation FM, Rosie Lowe is currently finishing up work on her much-anticipated second album; more news of which – following the standalone release of ‘The Light’ – is expected soon.
Breaking studio-cover today to discuss the collaboration, Rosie writes: “me and Henry were hanging out and just having a jam one afternoon earlier this year, which is when ‘The Light’ came about. Henry played that chord progression and I started singing the melody straight away; we had been wanting to work together for a while so it was amazing for a song to come so effortlessly on our first play. ‘The Light’ is about resistance and the denial that comes with processing of grief.”
On the track, Lowe’s collaborator Henry Wu said: “Rosie Lowe is a true artist and she’s fearless in her approach to making music.”
‘The Light’ is the perfect reintroduction to the musical polymath that is Rosie Lowe – a songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ (and trainee psychotherapist) whose work digs into a richly complex mix of musical and emotional experiences. Her acclaimed debut album, ‘Control’, was an arguably ahead-of-its-time dissection of politics, feminism, and the realities versus the expectations of modern love. Rosie’s second record, which will begin early next year, goes further still.
