RÖYKSOPP

SHARE SUMMER HIT LET’S GET IT RIGHT FEAT. ASTRID S

PROFOUND MYSTERIES II

RELEASED ON 19TH AUGUST

“Röyksopp have birthed an engaging, expressive multimedia universe suspended in digital mystery, a sum of many components meticulously executed.“  Clash

“Profound Mysteries is a multi dimensional adventure… {It} lives up to Röyksopp’s reputation as a duo that has perfected the art of dishing out electronic hugs…”  The Line Of Best Fit

“… the music on Profound Mysteries doesn’t struggle or collapse under the weight of Röyksopp’s artistic ambitions: the music is some of their canniest and most absorbing.”  Popmatters

“Profound Mysteries is another superior collection of sophisticated dance music, perfect for a snowcapped forest disco.” Brooklyn Vegan

“Known for their captivating and emotionally charged collaborations — especially when it comes to those with top-tier Swedish talent, including Robyn, Lykke Li and The Knife‘s Karin Dreijer — Röyksopp have assembled another enviable roster of performers to carry out their latest undertaking.”  Billboard

Following the first run of their lauded, rip-roaring live festival appearances, today legendary music duo, Röyksopp, share the gloriously sun-drenched Let’s Get It Right featuring Astrid S. It is the tenth track to be revealed in the ever expanding, acclaimed Profound Mysteries project, following swiftly on from yesterday’s Control, a stomping, beat driven dancefloor number. Both tracks are taken from ‘Profound Mysteries II’, available on 19th August through Dog Triumph .

Speaking about the track Svein Berge & Torbjørn Brundtland said: “We wanted to create a warm and sensual space in which the simple message of the song felt native. And to us, Astrid S had to be a part of that mise-en-scène.”

Astrid S commented on the collaboration: “I’m thrilled to share another track from my collaboration with Röyksopp – I’m very happy with how all the songs turned out and can’t wait for everyone to hear them.”

Berge and Brundtland describe Profound Mysteries as the biggest undertaking of Röyksopp’s career. It both encapsulates the unique sound they’ve spent decades honing, and expands on it. It’s a bold look to the future, and an homage to the artists, genres, and musical movements that first inspired them. It’s a project they’ve spent their whole lives making (the oldest ideas date back to the early days of Röyksopp, literally using MIDI data first composed by the band when they were teenagers in the 1990s), and it’s brand new.

Earlier this month, Röyksopp released Profound Mysteries Remixes. The lead track, which was anointed ‘Essential New Tune’ by Pete Tong, is the co-produced &ME remix of the acclaimed BBC 6music-playlisted track Impossible featuring Alison Goldfrapp. Other artists to have remixed tracks from Profound Mysteries I  are Rodriguez JR., Township Rebellion and Henry Saiz.

Profound Mysteries is characterised by its wealth of collaborations. As always, Berge and Brundtland wrote, performed, and engineered the majority of the record together in Norway, though their collaborations span the world. On Profound Mysteries Röyksopp recorded strings and woodwind in New York, Berlin, and Paris, while guest vocals come from both familiar artists in the Röyksopp universe (Susanne Sundfør) as well as new additions (Allison Goldfrapp, Beki Mari, Astrid S, Karen Harding, Pixx and Jamie Irrepressible).

There is a unique expanded creative universe with each track accompanied by an ‘artefact’ and ‘visualiser’ created by Australian contemporary artist Jonathan Zawada, as well as a short film made in collaboration with Scandinavian production agency Bacon.
