Single: ‘Way Back Home’
“Morning Light- a great track by Singer/songwriter from Yorkshire – Rupert Stroud, who is unsigned I believe at the moment!” Dermot O’Leary, BBC Radio 2
“His songs have that strum along/sing along quality that in itself is a gift.” Guitar Technique
Rupert Stroud has been dubbed one of Yorkshire’s hottest young talents. A title justly awarded to the striking upcoming musician, who has relentlessly worked the live circuit, earning critical acclaim along the way.
Having garnered comparisons to Ray LaMontagne, Jim Morrison and Lloyd Cole, and with a full summer of festival bookings and live performances, it is clear that his talent is one akin to the greats. Just last month Rupert opened for James Blunt at his Dalby Forest show in front of a crowd of 5000 people, receiving great praise and words of wisdom from the man himself, whom he hopes to tour with later this year.
Rupert’s music has attracted attention from BBC Introducing, BBC R2, Dermot O’Leary, Bob Harris, 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and XFM. He has also performed live in session for BBC Radio London. The music video for his single ‘Never Back Down’ won ‘People’s Choice Award 2013’ at The 27th Leeds International
Film Festival. The single was also added to the A-playlist at BFBS Radio and Rupert was invited to the station to perform an exclusive live session.
With a rich tone, emotional delivery and lyrical wizardry, it is little surprise that Rupert came to the attention of Will Jackson (Kaiser Chiefs, Embrace, The Cribs), who worked with Rupert on his much-loved sophomore release, ‘Chasing The Nights’. Having being awarded with universal praise for the release, the pair has collaborated once again on Rupert’s impending third studio album.
Heading up the release is Rupert’s new single, ‘Way Back Home’, which makes up one of four new songs from his initial EP release this September. The single has an air of Doves meets R.E.M. emotionally charged anthemic ballads. A soaring sing along, ‘Way Back Home’ has everything you need for a sunny summer’s evening.
