Sainté has today dropped brand new EP Vacation. A time-capsule from the Leicester ‘MVP’, the project features latest track ‘Sade’, ‘Arrogant’ and more from the hotly tipped-rapper: it’s his first body of work since 2021 EP Out The Blue, and follows a period that has seen Sainté tour with the likes of Denzel Curry, join Kenny Beats at his summer London show, sell out his own run of dates including London’s Hoxton Hall, and achieve more than 180 million streams.
Vacation, says Sainté, “was the first word that came to my mind when I listened through all these tracks. That’s the way the project made me feel.” Luxurious, escapist but with his trademark candour and introspection, it’s a snashop too of the big changes in Sainté’s life these past few years: from moving to London during the pandemic (‘East’) to those heroes that anchor you throughout times of upheaval (‘Sade’). As seen in his own typically-modest style on recent single ‘Arrogant’ – with a striking, Vacation-themed video shot in Lake Como – it’s that confidence to try and be the best (and the best version of yourself) that Saintè wants to inject into UK rap today: a positive attitude memorably captured on new track ‘Compare’.
Sainté is one of the UK’s most distinct young talents. On his own terms and at his own unhurried pace, the 22-year-old’s hard graft has already seen breakout single ‘Champagne Shots’ surpass 60 million streams DIY, with 2021 EP Out The Blue (featuring Knucks, Miraa May, Odeal and A2) showcasing a nuanced mix of influences: from childhood kingpins like 50-Cent or Jay Z to the contemplative, 90s R&B of ‘Sade’. With songs that are hazy but honest, Sainté is already proving himself to be a multi-faceted artist. The former semi-pro basketball player is also the new face of a Tommy x END campaign, and has appeared in campaigns for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Billionaire Boys Club, Flannels and Gauchoworld.
A postcard from where Sainté finds himself in 2022, Vacation is also just the start of Sainté’s artistic journey to come.
