SMITH SET TO CONTINUE RESIDENCY IN SAN FRANCISCO’S CASTRO THEATRE

On Thursday 9th October, multi-Platinum, GRAMMY®, BRIT, Golden Globe, and Oscar-winning artist and songwriter Sam Smith joined singer/songwriter Sombr at his hometown headline show at Pier 17, in celebration of their sold-out“To Be Free: New York City,” residency at the Warsaw Theatre.
Sam accompanied the 20-year-old American record producer Sombr on stage, joining forces to perform a beautiful, chilling rendition of Smith’s Top Threecharting single ‘I’m Not The Only One’ from UK #1 debut album ‘In The Lonely Hour’. Moving the audience, Sombr showcased a heartfelt clip Separate to the duet, of his younger self performing the same track, reflecting on the impactful impression Sam and their music have had on his career, to date.
Commencing on 8th October at Brooklyn’s historic Warsaw club, Sam has sold-out an impressive 24-night-residency. Also kicking off 10th February, 2026 is Sam’s “To Be Free: San Francisco,” an eight-night residency at the Castro Theatre, a designated landmark in the heart of the city’s LGTBQ+ cultural epicenter. Both residencies take their name from Sam’s soaring new single, “To Be Free.” The soulful acoustic song, which explores how vulnerability can unlock bravery and freedom, includes moving vocals by The TwoCity Chorusand came with a joyous, (LA)HORDE-directed music video filmed at Warsaw — watch HERE. The song has since earned critical praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone (“Sam Smith feels light as a feather”), Billboard (“one of their most striking songs in years”), and Stereogum (“heartstring-pulling … immensely powerful”), among others.
Marking the beginning of the NYC residency, Sam continued their ongoing collaboration with Vivienne Westwood and brand Creative Director Andreas Kronthaler, creating custom Vivienne Westwood looks, including a shirt and matching trouser in a custom orange and chocolate brown wool crepe check – woven especially for Sam and a limited-edition t-shirt, featuring hand-drawn artwork by Vivienne Westwood Andreas. Proceeds from t-shirt sales will go towards Sam’s charitable foundation, The Pink House, which serves as a source of support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
