In place of the Hervey Bay sand he knows so well, Sam West has spent the past four months circumnavigating the country, bringing tunes from his latest full length album Circles to audiences nationwide. It’s been a long road paved with success. To celebrate, Sam is set to release his new single, ‘Rise Up’ on 12 June 2015.
A well-received contestant on Australia’s Got Talent in 2011, Sam carries an endorsement from Cole Clark guitars, and secured two silver medals for Australia at the 2011 World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles.
‘Rise Up’ was recorded at Queensland’s Pacific International Studios, under the watchful eye of producer and studio co-founder Robert Mackay (The Bobkatz). Mackay lends his rock-steady bass chops to the track.
“Sam West is a gifted young bloke with an organic and original style that is refreshingly unlike others”
– Robert Mackay
Stripped-down, raw, and effortlessly cool, ‘Rise Up’ pushes Sam’s blues-funk sound into even more upbeat, rousing territory.
“I wrote this song in my hometown, by myself, late at night – which is when I do all my best writing. This song is about people standing together for a better future: humanity, as one, standing up together for what is right, to stop war, fighting, conflict, just standing together for the first time in history to face a very uncertain future. We need to forget race and difference and just work out what we need for ourselves and for the planet.” –Sam West
